From Elder Ellis:

Hello everyone! I can’t believe it’s been a week already! So much has happened this week, so let’s get started!

Yeah, looks like I made it!

Man, so working with J___ this week has been a great experience! We taught her this week about modern-day prophets and helped her understand things about the Bible. It was amazing this week because she connected the dots between the time the Bible ended and Joseph Smith. She understood why we needed a Restoration. It was amazing!

This week was my year mark also! I burned a shirt to commemorate it! Woot Woot! I can’t believe a whole year has gone by already. It’s crazy.

We’ve been working with less active families for a while. We taught this family, the I___ family, last week or so. We planned to visit them again on the 23rd. Well, one day we planned to work in the north part of our area, so I decided we should buy cookies for another member we were going to stop by to visit. So we went to Target to buy some cookies. We while we are there, guess who we “just so happened to run into”? The I___ family! They were excited to see us, because they thought they missed the appointment we had set up. We planned on the appointment for this coming week, the 23rd, but they thought it was a week earlier. They had no way of contacting us to tell us that they couldn’t make it. We ran into teach other at Target. What are the odds? Well, we exchanged phone numbers and we set the appointment officially for the 23rd! That was a mini-miracle that happened to us!

Another miracle, so the member we were buying cookies for lives in a lockout apartment complex. It means you have to use a call box and they have to buzz you into the apartment building. So we called him. Nothing. Called his phone. Nothing. Called he the call box number. Nothing. So we turned around to the mailbox and started calling everyone who had a Hispanic last name. Often they will buzz people in without even asking who it is. Crazy, but we did it. So we call and call and call. No one buzzed us in. So we didn’t know what to do. Then someone walked out and we caught the door really quickly and walked right in. We get to our members door. We were going to just leave the cookies at the door. I heard a noise inside. So I thought, why don’t we just knock? So we did. After all the hard work of breaking–er well…strategically placing ourselves inside his apartment…he answered the door! We had a nice discussion. He’s a pretty cool guy too! His name is Chris Hawkes and he’s preparing to get married soon! His brother served his mission out here in this mission too! Crazy relations!

So final miracle of the week! Yesterday at church, our other investigators came to church! They are the K___ family! Je___ and A___ have been investigating for a month now. I haven’t been able to actually teach them because their schedules are super, super busy, but they always make time to come to church. Well, yesterday they came to church. Jeremy comes up to us and starts scheduling a time for us to meet next, and then he says, “Oh yeah, and as for Amanda and my baptismal date, we wanted to do it sometime late April or early May. Does that work?” Woot! We pretty much were stunned, then said yes! We’ll be talking with them in more details at our next appointment. It’s so exciting that they are willing to learn more!!

Well, that’s all for this week! It’s been a great week! I’m so excited to jump into next week! Thank you all for the love and support from all you guys!

Have a wonderful week!

Love,

Elder Ellis
